"We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes" isn’t just an album—it’s a raw exploration of emotion, creativity, and identity. Released on October 31, 2024, through Electrostep Network and Electric Sunshine Cult, the project captures the unfiltered essence of Chain$aw Huey’s artistry.
In this exclusive interview, Chain$aw Huey gets candid about his creative journey, mental health, and what’s next for his music.
Q1: The album title is striking—"We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes". Where does it come from, and what inspired the theme of the album?
Chain$aw Huey: Honestly, it’s all about the mental health ups and downs, especially in terms of emotions. Somewhere in all the madness, I realized I’m not the only one losing sight—we all go a little mad sometimes. I spent so many nights working on this album that I felt like I lost my mind at points. Jelly Roll has that song I’m Not Okay, But It’s Going to Be Alright—that’s the vibe I was channeling.
Q2: This album was released on Halloween, which seems intentional. What’s the connection between the holiday and the vibe of the project?
Chain$aw Huey: There’s no deep significance, but my band has a darker feel, so it felt like a great opportunity to stand out. Halloween allowed my brand and music to cohesively align with that eerie, cinematic vibe we naturally give off.
Q3: Collaborating with Electrostep Network and Electric Sunshine Cult must have brought a unique dynamic to the release. How did that partnership come about?
Chain$aw Huey: It’s an incredible story. I met Zak through Discord and connected with some mutuals. I had already been on tour with Azid and J Swey, so the relationships just came together naturally. Working with both labels has been such a dope experience—they really support the creative vision.
Q4: Can you share more about the creative process behind the album? Any standout moments?
Chain$aw Huey: To be 100% brutally honest, this album was all about experimentation. I even reintroduced myself to certain things I hadn’t touched in years. One standout moment was hitting a bowl for the first time in forever—right then, the album name came to mind. I looked it up, realized it connected to Psycho and Bates Motel, and knew it was perfect. That moment set the tone for the entire project.
Q5: The album has been described as both cinematic and raw. Was that intentional?
Chain$aw Huey: It’s never intentional—it’s just how it comes out. We’re always trying to be experimental and raw. I don’t think it’s healthy to plan an entire album’s theme because life brings it together naturally. We’re just having fun with music. That said, if I had the resources, I’d love to create something even more planned and cinematic in the future.
Q6: What do you hope listeners take away from this album?
Chain$aw Huey: I hope they get a real understanding of who I am—not just as an artist, but as a person. This album reflects my life experiences, where I’m from, and the nights and days spent grinding, hungry for more. It’s about what it takes to sound great. My sound is something I’ve honed for years, and no one can tell me otherwise—it’s natural.
Q7: What’s next for Chain$aw Huey? Can fans expect more music or live performances soon?
Chain$aw Huey: For sure. The rollout continues, and I’ve got a couple of shows in the works. Expect more singles, visuals, and an expanded audience. I’m laying the foundation for my music to go viral, and when it happens, I want people to see the hard work that’s been put in.
Q8: Is there anyone you’d like to give shoutouts to?
Chain$aw Huey: Absolutely—shoutout to my brother and business associate MSDOX, Zepfire, and Lottoz for contributing to the album. Big thanks to Electrostep Network and Electric Sunshine Cult for helping bring this release to life. We all got that bounce and killer instinct.
